CROSS COUNTRY: AN EXPLORATION INTO RURAL PUBLIC SPACE
GALLERY EXHIBITION
20 March – 27 April 2008
Public works’ structure/story-room will travel to Wysing to occupy the gallery space from 20 March onwards, joining other works by artists N55 and Jose Arnaud-Bello who recently undertook residencies working with a group of people of Traveller origin in the area. N55's Manual for a Walking House will be distributed during the exhibition meanwhile the artists are developing a life-size Walking House with BRE (The Building Research Establishment) in Watford - look out for this later in the year.
Jose Arnaud-Bello’s photographs of local Traveller sites that have recently been closed are poignant reminders of a fragile community now dispersed. Also, Wapke Feenstra of collective myvillages.org will contribute their Bibliobox to the exhibition. The Bibliobox is a travelling archive of rural art practice and will spend a week in a nearby school before travelling to Wysing’s gallery.
ART TROLLEY – FREE drawing materials and an Activity Handout will be available for families free of charge at weekends throughout the gallery exhibition.
