TeachMeet Cambridge - Build Your Own Pavilion

Led by design-engineer educators Kidesign, this informal CPD session will cover researching your neighbourhood through collaborative mapping, architectural drawing and hands-on model making. There will also be the opportunity to ask questions about how to inspire your young architects and find out more about teaching next generation design technologies such as CAD and 3D printing.

There will be free refreshments and the opportunity to network with other local educators.

The Build Your Own Pavilion project invites children aged 8-16 across the UK to become young architects and submit their designs for new public spaces in their city or town (this urban focus is also adaptable for more rural areas.) The project offers strong curriculum links to Art, Design, technology, geography and citizenship. ‘The Serpentine Gallery’s approach to education is based on a belief in the importance of teachers and students working in conversation with their local area and exploring ideas through collaboration. This is an alternative approach to the standard DfE guidance that focuses on individual accumulation of knowledge. Serpentine Education projects are research based and ask critical questions about the world we live in.
