A discussion, chaired by Dr Wendy Pullan, Senior Lecturer in the History and Philosophy of Architecture at Cambridge University, exploring ideas of space, confinement and borders with artists, Ansuman Biswas and Céline Condorelli. Organised by artist, curator and writer Sonya Dyer. Jointly commissioned by a-n Magazine (www.a-n.co.uk), and Axis, the online resource for contemporary art (www.axisweb.org).

The kind of questions that will be discussed include: What are the politics of the ways in which people inhabit space, and what does contemporary art practice have to say on the subject? What light can voluntary confinement bring to our understanding of the complexities of space? How do structures support our engagement with and understanding of the ways in which we inhabit our bodies and the wider world?

Structure and Space is the last in a commissioned series of artists and curators talks taking place across England and Wales from Autumn 2010 to Spring 2011, which have highlighted diverse, but interlinked, approaches and philosophies in contemporary art practice.
