wall-drawing

Anne-Mie asked me to be the next for the wall in the window room at Wysing Arts - we talked about what I could do and I liked the idea to try  something that had been in my head for quite a while but that I hadn’t tried yet … For this work I projected a drawing of mine on the wall and overtook the theme and the proportions. It is somehow the different language of lines and the poetic of those lines what intersted me to put on the wall…   w3web1.jpg

  1. I was caught by surprise in the window room this morning. Kiki’s work glowed like a widescreen film on one side of the wall, distracting me from my own thoughts. I was on my own. Forgot why I was there. Stopped and looked, and for whatever the reason I began to play the old association game in my head.

    Red: robin
    Yellow: heat of summer
    Grey: English weather
    Yellow: autumn
    Black lines: road, path
    Grey lines: cloud, whirlwind, restlessness
Irregular line forms: Unknown birds, secret, secret?

There was something unsettling about the yellow rectangular format. A barrage of latent images were passing by horizontally and changing fast. Nothing would stay fixed. I wanted to see a landscape, or sign of one, but it was not there - or was it there?

Just read her introductory words, the poetry of lines. The pieces began to fall into place, not comfortably, though. Grey lines: whirlwind. Black lines: Unknown birds…

I remembered why I was there. I was there to borrow a cup. Franko had made me a beautiful espresso.

  3. This is not Kiki, it is mark using Kiki’s account.
If you look very closely at kiki’s drawing you will find her usernaame and password written in the top left hand corner of her glorious painting in the window room.

Of course if Kiki does not want people to know this, she can always delete this comment, so do not blame me, OK?
