Yes, unfortunately the talk was sometimes hard to follow, but as David said it was a real insight into a what seems a period of change in western art and one that is very relevant now ie an investigation into the aestheics of materiality, started by the Dada movement nearly fifty years prior. With Germano Celant it felt like a very relevant history lesson. Regarding the works of GILBERTO ZORIO some of the more subtle works in the show really worked for me in contrast to the more 'Showy/Theatrical' works, a show well worth seeing nevertheless.
ps The KFC was nice though!

the 'In conversation' was a great insight into the 'art povera' movement of the 60's with some v.candid anecdotes from Germano Celant about art making around that time. It seemed that Mark Godfrey wanted to contextualise this period of artistic activity with work being made now and how there may (or not) be common themes, concerns, attitudes, techniques etc. The one major problem for me in relation to the format of the event is that unfortunately Gilberto Zorio cannot speak English, so needed an interpreter, which proved difficult to follow. It's definitely worth going to check out the show at Milton Keynes Gallery!

what do you think Lotte, Simon and Oliver?
