Wysing Inside Out is open every day from 12 to 5pm. Admission is free and there is a self-service teapoint in our reception building.
Wysing Inside Out is a project in which our entire 11 acre site has been turned over to the 24 contemporary artists who work from it every day. Artists have taken over kitchens, offices, greenhouses, Wysing’s farmhouse and other spaces, including the gallery, as an alternative take on the open studios format. In doing so they have revealed hidden and unseen parts of Wysing that you may have never noticed before whilst also given their work a whole new dynamic context.
There are 50 artworks located around Wysing’s site including wall paintings and drawings, live outdoor knitting, a sculptural installation in our polytunnel that uses the discarded gardening equipment left in it as the starting point for the work, a work that has 11 different elements to it partially hidden around the site and waiting to be discovered, and many more.
Pick up your map at reception and enjoy looking for the work in this extraordinary project.
We are delighted that Wysing Inside Out is part of Tate Modern and ICA’s Out of Bounds season, to celebrate the launch of the Cultural Olympiad. This event is part of Out of Bounds, a season of art events taking place at Cornerhouse, the ICA, Tate Modern and a number of other contemporary art spaces. All of the activities employ hidden, backstage and non-public sites at the participating institutions, spaces that are already ‘owned’ by the public but which the public cannot usually see.
Wysing Inside Out runs for three weeks during which we have a jam packed programme of events, film screenings in our new structure Amphis and in association with the Cambridge Film Festival, and artist-led alternative site tours, live music and performance evenings as well as three weekend workshops for all ages.
Admission is Free to all events; we charge a minimal fee for materials for our Family Drop-in sessions only. Come along and take part.
