2010 artistic programme

2010 is the Year of the Improbable at Wysing Arts Centre. We have gathered some fantastic artists together to respond to The Improbable as a subject during the year, and very much hope that you will be able to join them throughout. Highlights include:


MARK AERIAL WALLER: THE CASSIOPEIA PLAN. 16 January – 28 February. Exhibition launch: Saturday 16 January, 4-6pm. A newly commissioned film and installation to launch the Year of The Improbable with a series of readings, screenings, performances and events curated by Mark Aerial Waller taking place during and after the exhibition: Thursdays 21 January, 4 & 18 February, all 6-8pm; Weekends 6/7 & 20/21 March, all 12-4pm. Family Launch of the Year of The Improbable at Wysing Arts Centre, Saturday 16 January, 2-4pm


WYSING ARTS CONTEMPORARY: PRESENTS. 10 April – 23 May. An artists' Art Fair with artist run spaces and self-organized initiatives within the visual arts in the eastern region presenting their work at Wysing. Selling exhibition, launching Saturday 10 April, 2-6pm.


INTERNATIONAL CAMP FOR IMPROBABLE THINKING. June through to September. With artists Asli Cavusoglu, Fabiano Marques, Emily Rosamond, Bedwyr Williams, Studio Weave, Andy Holden, Lars Bang Larsen and many more. A three month Camp exploring The Improbable, with a series of discursive events workshops, an outdoor sculpture exhibition and a music festival among the many proposed ideas.


We want as many people to take part in this Camp as possible. Whether you are interested in improbability in maths, science fiction, the relevance of Greek theatre in the 21st century, or anything Improbable – we want to hear from you. Contact info@wysingartscentre.org">info@wysingartscentre.org


WYSING ARTS CONTEMPORARY: FUNCTIONS. 30 October - 19 December. Work by artists’ based in the Eastern region whose work crosses the fields of design, architecture and the environment. Selling exhibition, launching Saturday 30 October, 4-6pm.
