£60 for 5 sessions or £14 per session for students, retired, unwaged
The course is aimed at people with no artistic experience who would like to try different kinds of techniques and methods within a supportive group and who would enjoy the opportunity to draw and make using everyday materials.
The two-hour sessions will take food and art as a starting point, beginning in Wysing’s onsite café, Café Abantu, with fun and practical exercises. All sessions will end with a sharing and discussion of newly created artworks back in the café.
Session 1 (21 Sep)
Exploring how food can be used as a material and applied to paper as an "ink" to produce unexpected effects.
Session 2 (28 Sep)
Learn how to draw with natural materials and through sketching explore ways to connect the various building and site sculptures around the grounds of Wysing.
Session 3 (5 Oct)
Make your own drawing tools and explore their possibilities and new ways of creating marks.
Session 4 (12 Oct)
Have fun devising playing games together and over a cup of tea and cake draw the disappearance of your cake.
Session 5 (19 Oct)
Come in to make cakes with art materials and design your own unrealised dreams.
Caroline Wendling has been based at Wysing for a number of years and she is an experienced art teacher, regularly running courses and workshops for adults and children at all levels of ability. In Caroline’s work, she explores ideas of place and belonging through drawing, print and three-dimensional constructions, attempting to give material form to the complex interconnectedness of our internal landscapes in relation to the space we inhabit.
Materials will be provided. Food is available to purchase from the café. To book your place please visit Wysing's Reception or click here. Cafe Abantu is open from 9am to 4pm.
