February Half Term Workshops

Circuit Conductors are a group of young people who are trained and experienced in leading arts workshops for children and other young people. The Conductors all have their own practices as artists, curators and/or museums educators and have been supported through a programme at Wysing Arts Centre and Kettle’s Yard. In 2017 they led a series of exciting and popular children’s activities at a range of venues around Cambridgeshire. The Conductors will be taking inspiration from more of an avalanche to help children access ideas, experiment, create, express themselves, and enjoy contemporary art.

Meet the Conductors:

Damaris Athene graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in 2015. She works across many mediums, taking inspiration from a wide range of sources such as anatomy, microscopic images and derelict buildings.

Rhiannon Moxham graduated from Chelsea College of Arts in 2016. She explores moving image, drawing, making objects and publications, and approaches the different aspects of her work as if they are not separate, but all exist simultaneously.

Wednesday 14 February, 10.30-12.30

Boys just want to have fun!  - Ever thought about how boys and girls are treated differently? Come and explore ideas about stereotypes with Damaris, and join together to paint a life-size man and woman.

Thursday 15 February, 10.30-12.30

'Do you have something you would like to say?' - Open up the ideas in the exhibition by exploring the idea of the voice, join Rhiannon and use drawing, improvisation and sound technology to investigate the ways individual voices can collectively come together.

Friday 16 February, 10.30-12.30

The power of an avalanche. - Explore the themes in our exhibition with Damaris, by transforming something fragile into something big and strong. Create an exciting sculpture and find strength in numbers.
