23 July — 24 August 2012

This summer, supported by J.P. Morgan and part of Plus Tate, young artists can take part in shaping and experiencing a parallel artist residency to The Mirror, Wysing’s professional artist summer residency. The residency ran 23 July – 24 August 2012 and young artists had the choice of which days to attend. Young artists had artist-led workshops, access to a studio space and the opportunity to curate an event as part of the professional residency.

Summer residency for ages 16-24 years

The WYA in residence programme included the following:

• Two days of workshops introducing contemporary art by professional artists with studios at Wysing
• A one day workshop introducing The Mirror residency theme with Wysing’s curator and studio artists
• Weekly workshops focused on the residency theme, making work for exhibition and curating skills
• Access to a shared studio space at Wysing
• Trips to other Plus Tate galleries
• Opportunities to informally meet and interact with international residency artists as part of Wysing’s creative campus
• Opportunity to curate an event as part of the professional residency
• Opportunities for public presentation of your work
• Opportunities to undertake and complete Silver or Gold Arts Award

The fee for this programme is £120. However we don't want this be a barrier to low income families and both subsidised and free places are available with travel bursaries supported by the Ernest Cook Trust.
