As an artist working through abstraction and alternative forms of image-making, Dala Nasser integrates sound, performance and film in her practice, but continually returns to painting and the medium’s foundational materials: fabric, pigments, stretcher bars, and mark making. Nasser’s practice understands material as both form and testimony, bearing witness to historical conditions shaped by colonialism, ecological decline, and psychological rupture. Through processes of soaking, staining, dyeing, and frottage on spiritual sites or contested ground, she transforms fabric into porous archives of lived experience, memory, and transformation.

Dala Nasser lives and works between London and Beirut. Recent solo projects include Xiloma, Kunsthalle Basel, Switzerland (2025); Adonis River, Renaissance Society, Chicago (2023); and Red in Tooth, Kölnischer Kunstverein, Cologne (2022). Group shows include Even Better Than the Real Thing, The Whitney Biennial, New York (2024); Thinking Historically in the Present, Sharjah Biennial 15, UAE (2023); and Is it morning for you yet?, 58th Carnegie international (2022). She has previously undertaken residencies at Ashkal Alwan, Beirut and Gapado AIR, South Korea.
